CHOWBENT RAMBLERS IN THE SUN

A group of Chowbent Ramblers enjoyed the sunshine at Moses Gate Country Park near Bolton on 25 July. Madge Pover had organised a walk through woodland and along the river for those feeling energetic. The others had a pleasant amble by the three lodges in the park, one of which, partially blanketed in yellow water lilies, is home to Australian black swans, who clearly thought the weather was of Oz standards. The 750 acre park, in the Croal Irwell valley, developed from an area of paper and tile making, is popular for a variety of leisure activities.

Afterwards, the walkers restored their energy levels at the Watergate Toll, where they enjoyed an excellent lunch.
